Together Women Can
Sheryl Sandberg is the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, an achievement that has helped pave the way and change perceptions along the way about women in tech, and about women in business. Her appointment to the board of directors in 2012 made her the first woman to sit on the board of technology giant, Facebook. She joined Facebook after serving as Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google and prior to that, Chief of Staff for Lawrence Summers, United States Secretary of the Treasury.
Sheryl Sandberg – So Much More Than a Powerful Woman in Business
It is not however Ms. Sandberg’s achievements in business that make her one of the most influential women, it is her work in encouraging, helping and mentoring other women to succeed in their lives, and to exceed their potential.
Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
In 2013, Sandberg co-authored a book on leadership and development, the lack of women in leadership positions and government and the rise of modern feminism. The book was an immediate success, and in the same year she founded the Lean In Foundation: LeanIn.org.
