EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Sarah Fuller was born on June 20, 1999, in Wylie, Texas. She began playing soccer when she was five years old, as a midfielder and a goalkeeper. Fuller attended Wylie High School, where she joined the ECNL Dallas soccer team during her sophomore year.. Fuller was soon able to kick a soccer ball over 60 yards during her games throughout high school. She attended Vanderbilt University after receiving a sports scholarship in 2017.
EARLY CAREER
Fuller seemed to be injury prone throughout her college soccer career. Not long before freshman year she broke her foot and was forced to sit out of her first season. In her sophomore year she suffered from back injuries and a stress fracture on her foot in her junior year. As a senior in 2020, Fuller’s determination finally began to pay off. In the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament, she recorded a rare goalkeeper assist with a free kick that almost traveled the length of the field, leading to a goal in a 4–2 win against Tennessee. In November 2020, Fuller’s three saves in the championship game against Arkansas helped the Commodores claim their first SEC Tournament title since 1994.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The day after this victory, Fuller was recruited by Vanderbilt’s football team who were scouting a kicker. Vanderbilt did not have a men’s soccer team, which made the football coach turn to the women's team, eventually recruiting Fuller. Less than a week later, 21-year-old Fuller made history, as the first woman to play in a football game for a Power Five conference team for Vanderbilt, the SEC and college football. She also kicked an extra point to become the first woman to score in a Power Five football game. Fuller moved to North Texas as a graduate transfer and signed to North Texas women’s soccer for the 2021 season. In February 2022 she was announced as the first-ever to be signed by Minnesota Aurora FC ahead of the inaugural USL W League season.
